our history

In 2003 during an outreach, our Father met a Sister at Johannesburg Hospital who was in need of prayer at her home in Protea Glen Ext 4. As our Pastor continued on praying with her, on 26 January 2004 after our Father's (Rev. David W. Ngandu) morning devotion, the Lord appeared to him and instructed him to relocate to Soweto to start a ministry that will be called Salem Assembly. It took him a few months to decide, and then he moved to Soweto together with Pastor Michel and Pastor Ade. On 21 March 2004, Salem Assembly held its 1st Sunday Service at house no: 5724 Protea Glen Ext 4. The house belongs to Sister Tebogo Matlala, 8 adult attended.

We believe that there is one God, creator and sustainer of the Universe. Eternally existing in three dispensations: The Father, The Son, and the Holy Spirit. We believe in the absolute deity and humanity of Jesus Christ, the son of God.

We believe in his virgin birth, his sinless life, the authenticity of miracles, and his atoning death on the cross, his vicarious and bodily resurrection. His ascension to heaven, his present work in heaven and mediator and his future personal and physical return to consummate his work.

We believe that the entire universe was created by him, through him and for him and that through his death and resurrection all things are made new.

We believe in the personality, deity, presence and ministry of the Holy Spirit.

We believe that he gives spiritual life, regenerates, sanctifies, indwells, guides, empowers, leads, heals, equips, discipline and comforts all believers.

We believe that the Holy Spirit convinces those who do not follow God to leave their sin and draws them to his truth.

We believe that the scripture: both the old and new testaments are the Holy Spirit inspired word of God, without error, complete and final authority for Salem Assembly and for the whole body of Christ.

We believe that man was originally created sinless, tempted by Satan, man fell in to sin, causing the race to be condemned to eternal separation from  God and creation to be imperfect.

We believe that he is saved from his lostness and separation from God by the complete, atoning death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. This is accomplished through repentance and faith in God and the atoning work of Jesus Christ.

We believe that there is only one body of Jesus Christ called the church which consist of all true believers who are born again by the Holy Spirit through a personal acceptance of and committed to Jesus Christ.
